Principal Changes of the September 15, 2017 Release

US Release: 9/15/2017

International Release: 9/29/2017

In this release, we've taken an already game-changing feature—self-serve productions—and made it even better! On top of that, we are releasing a host of other features for all users.

As always, if you have questions about the new release, or would like to schedule a Q&A session to learn about these features, please reach out to us! For support questions, email support@everlaw.com. For a Q&A session, email training@everlaw.com.

Let’s dive into the details!

Production modification tools:

When we released the productions feature, we were really excited to bring the new functionality to our users, but we knew that the ability to modify productions was another important element to add in. As soon as the first iteration was out the door, we got to work on production modification tools

You can now modify productions directly from the production card on the homepage. This primarily facilitates two workflows:

  • Changed privileged status: At times within a case, you may need to claw back produced documents or produce originally withheld documents due to changes in privilege.
  • Changing the production configuration: Similarly, you may need to further edit the configuration of a production after it has been run.

For further instructions, check out this support article on production modification tools.

Here is an example of modifying a production by creating a "claw back"

"Document Sets" column on homepage allows you to access productions:

You can now access productions directly from the homepage. The "Uploads" column has been replaced by a "Document Sets" column, which will contain cards for both document uploads and productions. Like other cards on the homepage, production cards can be favorited.

Production cards within the Document Sets column will have a yellow band, while uploads will continue to have an orange band (dark orange for native uploads, and light orange for processed uploads).

Create a search directly from persistent highlights:

We heard from many of you that the ability to create searches directly from your persistent highlights would greatly improve your workflow. We made it happen! Now, you can access a drop-down menu that allows you to create searches based on categories of persistent highlights. This can be found in the Persistent Highlights page within Case Settings.

You can create a search from any or all categories. The resulting search will open in a results table. It will be saved as a search card on the homepage and can be shared, assigned, exported, or produced, just like any other search.

Permissions upgrades:

With this release, users now have the ability to remove permissions from a shared object. If you have share, edit, and delete permissions on a shareable object, such as a binder or Chronology, you can revoke other users’ permissions on that object. Locate the share dialogue on any object.  Examples of this include a homepage card, the toolbar in an assignment group dashboard, a Chronology, or an Outline. Once the share dialogue is open, select the “View/Edit existing permissions” link in the lower left corner. This will prompt a menu that allows you to individually remove users’ permissions. You can revoke permissions for any user except yourself and the owner of the object.

Also in this release, we've added the ability for administrators to separate the permissions for redactions. Previously, redaction permissions worked the same as notes and annotations. In Case Settings, under the "Users & Groups" header, you can now select "Redact documents" as a permission for a user group. By default, the redaction permissions are turned on for both administrators and reviewers, but can be modified.

Uploads and productions notifications:

You can now specify if you wish to receive email notifications for completed uploads and productions through the "Settings" tab in the Message Center. This allows for greater control over the email notifications you receive. Note that unless an admin has turned off upload and production notifications, you will continue to receive a Message Center notification upon completion of an upload or production you’ve originated.
