Principal Changes of the May 8, 2013 Release

Note: These release notes may not reflect current Everlaw functionality, as product updates may have changed certain features since these notes were published. Please refer to our Knowledge Base for support articles on current functionality.

This release redesigns the review window, dramatically improving page navigation, viewing metadata, and applying codes, tags, and notes. It also adds the ability to create coding rules.

1. Review Window Changes

Please watch this instructional video for an overview of the changes. You can still using the old coding interface for the time being. However, we will remove it in our next release, so make sure to familiarize yourself with the new one!

2. Guides

We have released a series of guides to help new users get acclimated with the platform. You can access them from the Help Table of Contents, or from here:

Production Guide
Admins also have a guide, accessible from the Admin help page.

3. Coding Rules

Admins can now create coding rules from the new Codes tab of the admin interface. Rules are of the form "In order to set...", "Require", and are built using the same interface you use to build search queries.

In the above example, if a user adds a code in the category "Financial Reports", or sets a rating on the document, she must also add a code in the category "Issues".
In this way, admins can enforce any required coding protocols. Coding rules can be arbitrarily complicated, with nested ANDs and ORs.
If a user violates a coding rule, an error message will display on the document. Document changes will not be saved if any coding rules are violated. Admins can designate certain rules as admin-overridable: for those rules, admins (but not normal users) are allowed to make document changes that violate the rules.

Finally, admins can view all violations of a new rule by clicking on the search button under the actions column in the coding rules table.

4. Note Templates
To make writing notes easier, we've added note templates. If you find yourself writing many identical or similar notes often, simply create a template from a note. You can then apply it with the click of a button. You can also duplicate the last note you wrote (potentially from a previous document).
