Principal Changes of the September 10, 2012 Release

This release brings document duplicate search, several big changes to metadata, an attachment finder, and several minor features.

 

1. Document Duplicate Search

Now you can find duplicate documents during review. An icon in the review toolbar automatically indicates how many Exact duplicates are found; clicking on the icon shows how many Very Near and Near duplicates are found as well. Click on any of those rows in the dropdown menu to display the duplicate documents in your Results Table—for instance to Batch Rate or Code them. (You can always then hit your browser's back button to return to your previous search.)

You can also search for duplicates by Bates number directly from the search interface.

In the near future you will be able to automatically apply the rating or coding you ascribe to one document to all of its Exact duplicates.

2. User Metadata and Aliases

Everlaw now supports any number of user-editable metadata fields per document. These fields can be used to correct errors in existing document metadata (though the original values are always preserved), or to add new values to the document.

Furthermore, multiple metadata fields can now be aliased into one easy to use field. For instance, "Custodian", "CUSTODIAN", and "Custdian" can be combined into a single "Custodian" field—without altering the underlying metadata.

Both user fields and aliases are fully searchable.

These fields must be configured by a case administrator via the administrator interface; if you are a case admin, please read the admin help page and feel free to contact us for help.

3. Attachments

An icon in the Review Window automatically indicates how many other documents are in this document's attachment or family group. This feature is useful if you come across an email and want to view its attachments, or vice versa. You can view all the documents in the same group in your Results Table by clicking through.

This feature must be configured by a case administrator via the administrator interface; if you are a case admin, feel free to contact us for help to do so.

4. Batch Notes and Smart Batch Undo

You can now Batch Note many documents at once through the Batch Actions interface on the Results Table.

Additionally, if you erroneously perform a batch action on many documents, you can now Smart Undo the batch action via the Finished Tasks table on the Home Page. Smart Undo only undoes actions that have not been subsequently overridden by other users.
