Translated Document Ingestion - Workflow Guide and Best Practices

To read more about uploading documents on Everlaw, feel free to refer to the articles in our Uploads section.

Everlaw can link original foreign language documents to corresponding translated versions so that you can easily jump back and forth between the foreign language documents and their translations.

The ingestion process is very similar to our normal ingestion workflow. In addition to providing us with the set of translations and custodian value, if any, all you need to do is to provide a spreadsheet, mapping the translations to the foreign language documents by listing the original begin bates numbers of the foreign language documents.

Upon receipt of the documents and the mapping file, we will convert and upload the translations to the platform, using sequential internal id numbers  or any other prefix designated by you (such as “Trans”). The “original begin bates” provided in the mapping file will be stored as metadata, used to link the translation to the original foreign language documents. You can also easily search this metadata field to quickly find the translation for a particular document.

If you have special needs which cannot be addressed by this ingestion process, please contact your Everlaw account manager or customer success team ( We will try our best to find a satisfactory solution for you. Please note that if your desired workflow requires data manipulation, or other manual work not described above, we might charge you at the rate of $140 per hour for the necessary work. We will always notify you of any non-standard data and associated costs prior to performing the work.
