User-facing features in this release:

Include additional data sources in M365 data preservations

When creating a data preservation for M365 data within Everlaw, Organization Admins and Legal Holds Organization Admins can now preserve additional data sources. An additional data source is one that a custodian does not have administrative control or ownership over, but is a member of. Outside of Microsoft, these data sources are commonly referred to as non-custodial data sources. Common additional data sources are SharePoint sites and Teams standard/shared channels.

With this update, users can now place data preservations on all types of mailboxes and sites in their M365 organization from within Everlaw, without separately needing to access Microsoft Purview.

Improvements to adding custodians to hold notices and data preservations

With this release, users can now add custodians to a hold notice in two additional ways:

  • Paste or upload from one directory
  • Copy selection from existing

Previously, the only way to add custodians to a hold notice was to select them individually from a directory.

Additionally, users can now add custodians to a data preservation using the Copy selection from existing option. The ability to paste or upload from a directory was already included in data preservation functionality.

Batch edit the time zone for datetime fields with an unknown time zone

With this release, Database Admins can batch edit datetime values with an unknown time zone to add a time zone to the timestamp. Editing unknown time zone values enables users to pinpoint the timing of key documents relative to each other and track an accurate timeline.

Improvements to copying document contents (text), with the option to copy with citation

We have made two improvements to copying text from the document review window:

  • When an Everlaw user uses the clipboard button to copy text from a document onto their clipboard, they can now choose whether or not to copy the citation (Bates/Control #) along with the text
  • When text is highlighted using text selection mode, users can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + C (Command + C for Mac users) to copy the plain text, without the citation, to paste elsewhere

Apply last applied redaction stamp redaction setting to hit redactions

Simplified experience when searching for standalone documents in partial projects

Users can now search for standalone documents in partial projects using the Attachment Group Size search term. This search term was already available for complete projects and simplifies the search logic needed to identify standalone documents.

Warning added for breaking attachment groups

If a user attempts to break an attachment group by adding or removing incomplete attachment families to or from projects in the same database, a warning appears. This warning identifies the affected documents and family members and allows you to select the option to include any missing attachment family members you have access to in the document set.

Improved suggested exhibit navigation in Storybuilder

After a user selects Link all in the Suggested exhibit links dialog in a Storybuilder transcript, the dialog now remains open and automatically moves to the next exhibit.

Search and filter documents based on text file size

Using Everlaw’s newest search term — Text File Size — users can now search for documents based on a file size range in either kilobytes (KB) or megabytes (MB). This can be helpful for catching documents with text extraction errors after upload, performing overlays, or forcing OCR.

Storybuilder’s new side-bar navigation

Storybuilder now has a collapsible sidebar navigation panel. The Dashboard, Timeline, Depositions, and Drafts tabs have moved from the top of the page to this panel, along with Deposition chats, the Share Story button, and Story permissions.

Improved folder selection in processed uploads wizard

We updated the folder selection page in the processed uploads wizard to make the experience more intuitive when not all three file types (text, natives, images) are present in the upload. The image file type is no longer selected by default, and because folder selection is optional, the Verify files button is enabled if any one of the file types has been assigned a folder. A confirmation dialog appears if the user selects Verify files with no folders selected for a file type.
