April 5, 2019: Project templates, weighted terms, and more

The April 5th update includes one of our most requested features: project templates! We've also included a great new way to target your predictive coding models through weighted terms, and some functionality updates to Outlines that will allow you to collaborate more effectively with your team.

Features and improvements:

  • New logo
  • Project templates
  • Weighted terms for predictive coding models
  • Hyperlinking and highlighting in StoryBuilder Outlines
  • Improved batch actions reporting
  • View and edit object permissions on homepage cards

New Logo:

The Everlaw platform is constantly growing, changing, and improving for the better. Likewise, Everlaw (the company) also continues to grow and evolve. In one of the more visible manifestations of that growth and evolution, we’re rolling out a refreshed brand globally this week. This change doesn’t impact the experience on the product in any way, but you will notice the new logo both on the login page and in the top navigation bar of the platform.

Project Templates

Until now, project settings for new projects always had to be configured from scratch. Now, database administrators can use an existing project as a template. This will copy project and database settings (e.g., users, production protocols, database permissions) to your new project. Organization administrators can use these project templates when creating new databases as well.

Weighted terms for predictive coding models

On Everlaw, predictive coding models learn what documents you consider relevant, and then surface other potentially relevant documents that your team may not have seen. Previously, predictive coding models were only trained on entire documents that you reviewed as relevant (e.g., rated “Hot,” coded “Responsive”). With this release, you can weight especially relevant sections of documents in order to train your models with greater granularity. Of course, all documents reviewed as relevant will continue to train your models.

A new predictive coding tab in the review window will allow you to select the relevant portion of the document in the text view. You will be able to see and manage your weighted terms from the predictive coding model page.

Hyperlinking and highlighting in StoryBuilder Outlines

This release builds on the November 2018 improvement to Outlines text formatting. Now, you can highlight and hyperlink text within Outlines and export them. You will find the new tools in the Outlines toolbar, indicated by a highlighter icon and a link icon.

Improved batch actions reporting

In release 43.0, you will be able to see and search batch action results from the associated homepage card. Completed batch coding and redaction actions will include a search that will take you directly to the set of documents that were modified. If any documents were not updated, e.g., for violating a coding rule, you will also be able to search that set and download a report of the details.

View and edit object permissions on homepage cards

With this release, it’s easier than ever to see whom an object (e.g., binder, Outline) has been shared with, as well as what permissions they have on it. To view and edit the permissions of an object, locate its card on the homepage and click the three-dot menu in the top right corner. Then, select View/Edit Permissions.
