Everlaw User Training

Everlaw’s User Education team offers a variety of recurring free live training sessions designed to help you to learn, understand, and master the Everlaw platform. These sessions cover everything from introductory information designed to help new users get started navigating and using Everlaw, to advanced sessions focused on specific complex features of the Everlaw platform.  

On this page you can find a list of all of the available live training offerings along with a description of what features of the Everlaw platform are covered in each session. You will also find links that you can use to sign up for any upcoming sessions!

These sessions are delivered live from our office in Oakland, California and are open to all users. For our users based in the UK and EU, we also offer several sessions during GMT/BST business hours. Please see the UK/EU Training section for availability.

Document Review

Duration:  60 minutes

When is it offered: Mondays at 10 AM PT; Wednesdays at 8 AM PT

Who might be interested: Users who are brand-new to Everlaw and any users who will be reviewing, coding, redacting, and annotating documents.

What you will learn: How to interact with the Everlaw homepage and an introduction to navigating a case on Everlaw. Tips for starting document review, including how to access sets of documents, setup the review window, and apply codes, redactions, and notes. How to work with and understand different document types.

Searching

Duration:  30 minutes

When is it offered: Tuesdays 10 AM PT

Who might be interested: Users responsible for running searches on Everlaw or users who need to incorporate searches into other workflows (such as creating Assignment Groups or generating Productions).

What you will learn: An introduction to the basic Document, Review, and Metadata search terms available in Everlaw. How to combine search terms together using logical operators to construct complex searches. How to remove documents from a set of search results using deduplication and add documents to search results using the grouping options.

Case Setup for Admins

Duration:  60 minutes

When is it offered: Tuesdays at 10 AM PT, Thursdays at 8 AM PT.

Who might be interested: Users responsible for uploading data to a case. Users who will be adding other users and managing case settings, codes, user groups, and document permissions. Please note: access to these features is tied to the Upload and Project/Database Administration levels of permission on Everlaw.

What you will learn: A general introduction to the various project settings available to Project Administrators and how to navigate the administrative tools. How to set up user access and permissions, including how to add users, setup group based permissions, and setup document access permissions. How to create coding categories and conditional/auto-code rules, set up persistent highlights, and manage metadata settings. How to upload native data and how to transfer processed data to the Everlaw team for processing.

Processed Data Uploader

Duration:  60 minutes

When is it offered: Weekly on Thursday at 10 AM PT

Who might be interested: Users who are interested in loading their own processed data into the platform.  Users who want to take complete control of their processed data loading, including navigating the load file, mapping metadata, and resolving any errors.

What you will learn: The standard format for processed data and the things to keep in mind when preparing to load processed data.  How to navigate the steps in the processed upload tool, including initializing the upload, defining special fields, metadata parsing, combining fields, normalizing fields, and selecting folders to upload.  How to QA your upload once it is complete.

Storybuilder

Duration:  60 minutes

When is it offered: Bi-Weekly on Wednesday at 10 AM PT

Who might be interested: Users who will be organizing and using documents to prepare for a variety of post-review activities. Users who need to organize key documents and better understand essential information. Users who need to prepare for Depositions and review Deposition transcripts.

What you will learn: How to add documents to a Story and prepare documents to be included later. How to navigate the Dashboard and leverage the different Storybuilder tools to prepare for important upcoming events. How to build Stories that include Timelines and Drafts. How use the Deposition tool to prepare for a Depositions and to upload and review a Deposition transcript.

Productions

Duration:  60 minutes

When is it offered: Bi-Weekly on Friday at 10 AM PT

Who might be interested: Users who will be preparing documents sets for production and generating productions to be distributed outside of Everlaw.

What you will learn: How to create codes and redaction stamps that will be required to setup a production.  The best practices for organizing and preparing documents you intend to produce. How to create and save a production protocol.  The various methods for sharing a production and how to modify an existing production, including how to claw back documents previously produced.

Assignments and Predictive Coding

Duration:  60 minutes

When is it offered: Once Monthly on Friday at 10 AM PT

Who might be interested: Users who will be managing a document review workflow and review teams using assignments. Users who are interested in creating and leveraging predictive coding models to locate documents and improve the efficiency of document review.

What you will learn: How to setup up assignment groups and batch out documents for review. How to create a predictive coding model and use that model to find documents and organize a document population. How to use the predictive coding and assignment tools together on Everlaw to prioritize document review by incorporating the output of a predictive coding model in an assignment workflow.

Early Case Assessment

Duration:  60 minutes

When is it offered: Once Monthly on Friday at 10 AM PT.

Who might be interested: Users tasked to work with and understand large sets of documents. Users who are responsible for understanding key terms and characteristics of a database. Users who are interested in strategies for potentially reducing their database size by removing documents.

What you will learn: The basics of how to use Search Term Reports and the Data Visualization tool to understand large populations of data. How to identify duplicate documents in your database. How to combine sampling with predictive coding to identify documents. How to leverage these tools to identify unnecessary documents and how to export those documents.

Organization Administration Training

This training session is specifically tailored for users who will be administering all of their organization's cases on Everlaw under an annual contract and is offered on-demand at a time of your choosing.

Duration:  60 minutes

When is it offered: On-Demand

Who might be interested: Users will be administering Everlaw across all databases owned by their organization. 

What you will learn: How to navigate the Organization Administration Dashboard.  How to create, rename, suspend, and delete databases owned by your organization. How to manage users and monitor activity across your organization. If requested, this session can also cover how to use our self-service processed data uploader that is available to Organization Administrators.

Special Topics Training

This training session can be customized to cover a variety of additional topics.  Potential topics to be covered in this session include advanced search strategies, assignments, predictive coding, productions, early case assessment, and Storybuilder.  When registering for an on-demand special topics training, you will be prompted to select the topics that you would like to cover in the session.  Please limit your selection to one or two topics to ensure there is sufficient time to cover the material.
