Teams using iManage Work 10 on iManage Cloud can directly upload native data files from iManage using Everlaw’s iManage Connector. This allows you to bypass the time-consuming process of manually downloading and uploading files.
The Connector also automatically copies all iManage metadata for uploaded files and folders to Everlaw as raw metadata fields.
In this article, we’ll cover:
- How to enable Everlaw’s iManage Connector from iManage
- How to use it to upload your native data.
Note
Everlaw’s iManage Connector is not available in Everlaw GovCloud.
Requirements
To enable the Connector: Everlaw’s iManage Connector must be added to your iManage tenant. This action requires an iManage Admin assigned to a Global Management role (for App Management privileges) to enable the application on iManage.
To upload documents to Everlaw:
- You must have Database Upload permissions in Everlaw
- You need your own iManage account
- The Everlaw iManage Connector must be added to your iManage tenant by an iManage admin
File types and limits
All Everlaw-supported file types can be uploaded from iManage. You cannot select more than 50 loose files or folders from iManage at a time. To select a large number of files, first add them to a folder in iManage. Only files and folders can be selected. Other containers (workspaces, matters, and tabs) cannot be selected.
Only the most recent version of a document is exported. The version number is one of the metadata values saved in Everlaw. The version history is not exported.
The iManage connector is primarily designed for importing native data to Everlaw. Processed data, such as a document production, should be downloaded from iManage and uploaded to Everlaw through our processed data uploader.
Add Everlaw’s iManage Connector
Required Permissions: iManage Admin assigned to a Global Management role (for App Management privileges)
Before your team can upload data from iManage, an iManage admin must go to the iManage Control Center and add the “Everlaw - iManage Connector” to your iManage tenant. For instructions on how to do this, visit iManage’s documentation on how to add an application.
Data privacy and permissions
Once the connector is enabled, users with Everlaw Database Upload permissions can select the iManage Connector from Everlaw’s Native Uploads page in any of their projects and log into their iManage account. When they do this, they are accessing the files and folders that are available to their individual account. Their access is controlled by your iManage admin, who may have settings in place that restrict which files individual users can view or download. Users can only select files from workspaces and libraries that are visible to them at the user level.
