Storybuilder Deposition Designations
Storybuilder Designations let case teams mark deposition testimony for use at trial when a witness will not appear live. In this initial release, Storybuilder supports affirmative designations and counter designations. The new designation tools support flexible import and export across multiple transcripts and parties.
Storybuilder transcript search improvements
This update adds a dedicated view for searching, reviewing, and exporting deposition transcript hits across multiple transcripts in a Story. Instead of only seeing which transcripts contain hits, you can now see the matching testimony itself, along with surrounding context, all on a single page without needing to jump into each transcript to view the hits. It also combines keyword searching and transcript Q&A search (formerly Deep dive for transcripts) in a single place.
Upload transcripts with linked exhibits (.LEF support)
With this update, Storybuilder can ingest marked exhibits and automatically link them to text in their associated transcript links directly from a LEF file. The exhibits within the LEF are uploaded to Everlaw as documents and added as evidence to the Deposition and marked with their appropriate exhibit number. Previously, users could only link transcript text to already-uploaded deposition exhibits.
Coding Suggestions for images
You can now use Coding Suggestions to evaluate images, instead of just text. This unlocks a new way to understand datasets with many images, and can speed up review of these datasets by pointing you toward the images that matter.
Faster batch assignments with new self-assign and batch size controls
Assignment admins and creators can now grant self‑assignment permissions and configure batch sizes as part of a single flow, then allocate work by batch size with one click, during assignment creation. It is designed to reduce admin overhead on large reviews and make group‑based self‑assignment easier to discover and use.
Project invitation emails now optional for existing users
This update lets Project Admins choose whether to send an email notification when they add existing Everlaw users to a project from the Project Settings page. This reduces email noise for internal users.
Resizable right-side panel in Storybuilder Drafts
You can now resize the right-side panel in Drafts by dragging it, giving you more control over how much space to dedicate to source material versus your draft. This makes it easier to review documents and testimony alongside your writing without constantly switching context, and it helps keep key reference details — like document titles, Bates numbers, or testimony citations—more visible while you work.
New MCP server tools
Everlaw’s MCP server now includes four new tools for discovering accessible projects and inspecting project-scoped data like metadata fields, processed uploads, and datasets:
- GetProjects: Lists projects the signed-in user can access and is typically the first step because other project-scoped tools require a numeric project ID.
- GetProjectMetadataFields: Lists searchable project-level metadata fields, including field name, internal ID, and format.
- GetProjectProcessedUploads: Lists processed uploads for a project, useful for auditing ingestion history and correlating documents to upload batches.
- GetProjectDatasets: Lists native datasets in a project so searches can be scoped to particular data collections.
These tools provide the entry point for programmatic workflows against an Everlaw project by helping developers find a project ID first, then inspect the project’s searchable metadata, processed upload history, and native datasets.
Note
We are continuing to invest in our MCP connector with additional endpoints. Project Billing, Project Analytics, User Activity events, and better Agentic tool selection are coming soon!
Alternative CSV export format for Coding Suggestions
This update adds a second CSV export option that presents Everlaw AI Coding Suggestions in a more legible, row-based format. Instead of combining multiple suggested codes and rationales into a single cell, you can export each Coding Suggestion and its rationale on its own row, with one suggestion per cell and one rationale per cell.
Assignments column added to the results tables
The Assignments column is now available in results tables to support tracking documents as they move through different phases of review.
The assignment group and assignment a document is in, or has been in previously, are now visible to users who have the necessary permissions. The cells in the Assignment column can be organized by the most recent assignment to the oldest assignment and vice versa.
On-demand Deep Dive enrollment
Deep Dive now supports on-demand project enrollment. Instead of choosing all partial projects to enroll at the time of initial enrollment, you can enroll additional partial projects, or transition a database from partial enrollment to database-level enrollment, at any time. This means:
- You no longer have to create and enroll empty partial projects in anticipation of future needs
- You no longer have to choose between partial and database-level enrollment, since you can convert to database-level enrollment at a later time
MDB transcript sync files now supported for UK user
Note
This update only applies to users in the UK. This functionality is already supported in the US and AU.
Users in the UK can now use standalone MDB files as deposition transcript sync files. This reduces the need for off-platform conversion when your synced deposition package includes an MDB file.
Visual improvements
- To accommodate Storybuilder’s new Deposition Designations feature, we made some structural updates to the Export annotations dialog. No functionality has changed, but the dialog now includes a Type step in which you can choose to export highlights or designations.
| Before | After |
- As a result of the merging of Deep Dive for Transcripts and transcript search into a unified page:
- The Ask across transcripts buttons have been replaced with Search transcript buttons. These exist in both the side panel on the Depositions page.
| Before | After |
- Transcript search, previously on the Deposition page has moved to the new Search transcript page.
