Everlaw’s Purview cloud connector allows teams to upload Microsoft Purview exports directly into Everlaw.
A Purview export is a review set that you have packaged and prepared for download within Purview. On Everlaw, the documents uploaded through the cloud connection are formatted, accessed, and reviewed the same as those uploaded through a local upload. This includes attachment family grouping, email threading, and chat formatting. Sensitivity labels are not supported.
This article assumes the connection has already been configured for your Everlaw database. If you need to set up the initial connection, see Connect Everlaw to Purview.

The Purview cloud connector is our recommended way to get M365 documents into Everlaw.
Requirements
To perform a Purview export upload in Everlaw:
- The connection must be set up between Purview and Everlaw (see Create a Cloud Connection to Upload M365 Purview Exports)
- You must be an eDiscovery Manager in Microsoft
- You must have a Purview account with access to the exports to be uploaded
- You must have Database Upload permission in Everlaw for the database to which you are uploading
Supported formats / prepare your export
You can upload PST exports to Everlaw. For a successful upload, please ensure the following guidelines are met when preparing your exports:
- Exports should be produced from a Purview search (not Review sets or any other workflow)
- The option to organize conversations into an HTML transcript should be disabled
Upload data through a cloud connection to Purview
Before you start: Prepare your export in Purview. For more information visit this article’s section about supported formats / prepare your export.
To upload data from Purview using Everlaw’s cloud connection:

Go to Data Transfer
> Uploads.
This opens the uploads page. - Select Native Upload. Then select Start upload.

Under Collect from cloud application, select Purview.

You are then prompted to log into your M365 account with access to Purview, or if you're already signed in, select your account.
This opens a dialog to choose your case.

This article assumes the connection has already been configured. If you reach this step, and:
- The dialog asks you to consent to the listed permissions: The connection between Purview and Everlaw was configured, but the appropriate permissions must still be approved before an export/upload can be made. Select whether or not you would like to grant access to other users in your organization. Then select Accept. To learn more, visit Create a Cloud Connection to Upload M365 Purview Exports.
- The dialog informs you that the application requires admin approval: The connection has been configured, but the user that configured it did not grant access to other users in the organization and you do not have the correct permissions to do so yourself. Please refer to Create a Cloud Connection to Upload M365 Purview Exports for more information, and contact your Purview admin for support.
- The dialog prompts you to make a request for admin approval: Follow the prompt to make your request. This option only appears if a Microsoft Admin enabled the relevant setting in Microsoft.
- You hit an error: The connection has not been fully configured. Please refer to Create a Cloud Connection to Upload M365 Purview Exports for more information.

On the Cases step, select the case that contains the export you want to upload.
- Select Next to move on to the Exports step.

On the Exports step, choose the export you want to upload.
- If you are happy with your selection, select Continue. Otherwise, select Previous to edit your choice.

You are taken to Everlaw’s native data upload wizard.
Here, you can name your upload, specify deduplications settings, and choose which projects to upload the data to. For more information about these upload settings, read the “Details” section of the Native Data Uploads article.
Note
You cannot select or modify Custodians for Purview uploads through the cloud connection. The custodian for each document is determined by the custodian designated within Purview at the time the export was created.
