Deep Dive for Transcripts

Deep Dive for transcripts is a generative AI question-and-answer tool for you to get insights from across all of your deposition transcripts.

When you ask a question using Deep Dive for transcripts, you get a citation-backed response that shows how deponents testified on that issue. The response goes beyond keyword searches to identify quotes that relate to the topic and themes of your question, and knits them together to give a response that advances your understanding of the case.

Requirements

To use Deep Dive for transcripts, you must be in a user group with Ask or View and ask permission for Deep Dive for transcripts and you must have access to a Story within a project.

Note

Deep Dive for transcripts can only search the first 1,000 transcripts uploaded to your Story.

Note

Deep Dive for transcripts is not available on GovCloud.

There are a couple steps that admins must complete to make Deep Dive for transcripts available on a project:

  1. An Organization Admin or Everlaw AI Admin must first enable a setting on the Organization home page. To do so, go to Organization home > Everlaw AI and switch on Deep Dive for transcripts. This enables Project Admins to switch it on in their projects.
  2. A Project Admin needs to enable the feature from the Project Management > Project Settings > Everlaw AI page. To do so, switch on Deep Dive for transcripts.

This starts an ingestion task to ingest all your transcripts in preparation for your team to start asking questions. All future uploaded transcripts are ingested automatically. While transcripts are being ingested, you'll see a warning on the Deep Dive for transcripts page that answers might not include all your transcript data.

Deep Dive for transcripts response

Each response includes a narrative framing and summary, backed up with relevant quotes from deponents. Each quote is cited with links to the relevant portion of the deposition from which it was pulled.

The response also includes two tables of Citations. The Possibly relevant citations table displays a link to the relevant excerpts in the transcripts and a ranking of the relevance of the citation, along with an explanation for the ranking.

The Citations used in response table lists the exact excerpts that were used to build the response. The Citation column includes a  link that opens the transcript to the excerpt in a new tab and the Excerpt column includes the relevant quote and line numbers.

Important

Generative AI can make mistakes. Double check that all cited quotes faithfully reflect the transcript.
